Vibration / Sound Activated Switch
Someone asked me for a circuit for vibration or sound activated switched in a forum. I had drawn this quickly by hand.The sound is detected by the electret microphone then is amplified by the PN2222 NPN transistor. Then the amplified signal is DC converted by the 2 1n4148 diodes.
A comparator is then used to detect the right voltage set by the potentiometer at the inverting input. A small hysteresis is added. The last NPN transistor is the one to drive a relay and with another 1n4148 diode to protect it from the reverse EMF generated by the relay coil when the transistor goes off.

i have some questions about this circuit (if you have time to answer me)
why do you put a resistor on the left transistor that connects base to collector?
what is that capacitor up the microphone between 1K and 2K resistors and what are these resistors for? (i know that one resistor is needed to driver the microphone)

We have planned to do a project on sound activated switch.So could you please send us more information about it along with the circuit diagram
Isn't this like on TV? On one show I saw a kid just clapped his hand and the lights went off. Is it also possible that with this diagram I could animate the scene on my own house? And I like to start it with my lights first, lol. If you have a larger scale for this to be possible please post it on your blog.
